Douro Valley Wine, Food and River Cruise Experience
Meet your guide at the meeting point in Porto and settle comfortably into the van to begin the journey to the Douro Valley, which takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Hotel pick-up is also available at an extra cost. Your first pass-by will be Régua - the capital of Port wine - where you can admire the mountainous hills with the River Douro running through the middle. Depending on the time of day, this may only be a pass-by without a stop. Your first visit will be to the renowned estate Quinta do Seixo, which belongs to Sandeman. Here, you will enjoy a guided tour inside the winery, learn about the production methods, and have the opportunity to taste the famous Port wine. Afterwards, head for lunch at a typical Portuguese restaurant, where you can try traditional Portuguese cuisine. If you have any dietary restrictions, please mention them when booking. Then, jump back into the van and continue to Pinhão. Relax on a 50-minute cruise aboard a traditional Portuguese Rabelo boat, once used to transport Port wine along the river. Your final visit will be to a local producer at the Olive Oil Museum, where you can enjoy tastings of table wines (red, rosé, and white), almonds, honey, and olive oil. After the visit, return to Porto and be dropped off at the meeting point or at your hotel, depending on the option purchased. Enjoy the natural beauty of the Douro Valley in every season. In spring, it is beautiful to see the almond trees in bloom, while in autumn the vineyards are covered in predominant shades of brown and yellow. It is an unforgettable experience.
