Bracciano Village, Odescalchi Castle and Lake Views
The guided tour of Bracciano will amaze you with the beauty of this small medieval village overlooking Lake Bracciano of volcanic origin, as well as the history of its beautiful castle and the important families who have lived there over the years. Begin with a guided tour of the beautiful medieval castle, originally designed as a defensive fortress and later transformed into a Renaissance court for the nobility of the time. It first belonged to the Orsini family and today belongs to the Odescalchi family. With its five towers, defensive walls, frescoed rooms, and furnishings, it still retains all its splendor and has become a highly sought-after venue for weddings. The Odescalchi Castle has in fact hosted princely weddings admired all over the world, such as those of Tom Cruise and Eros Ramazzotti, and it also boasts wonderful outdoor spaces with lawns, arcades, arches, and panoramic views of Lake Bracciano. The guided tour continues with the Cathedral of Santo Stefano, just a few steps from the castle, which houses gems such as the baptismal font and a reliquary in gilded wood. Afterward, enjoy a walk through the historic center and its picturesque medieval alleys, with cobblestone paving, stone houses, arches, delightful lake views, small shops, and taverns offering menus of local tradition with various types of lake fish and typical Roman dishes. The tour ends at the Belvedere della Sentinella, once a defensive bastion and now a splendid terrace from which you can admire a fantastic view of Lake Bracciano.
