Ijen Crater Trek and Return to Surabaya or Malang

Travel to Paltuding, the parking area. It will take about 30 minutes if you stay at a nearby homestay around the Ijen volcano. Arrive at Paltuding, the parking lot at Ijen Crater, then climb to the rim for about 2 hours and enjoy relaxed views of the green acid lake, the massive rim area with yellowish sulfur stones, and the sulfur miners' activity at the bottom of Ijen Crater. If you reach the Ijen volcano rim earlier, you may also be able to see the Blue Flames, which normally appear before 5:30 am. Arrive at Paltuding, the parking lot at Ijen Crater, then climb to the rim for about 2 hours and enjoy relaxed views of the green acid lake, the massive rim area with yellowish sulfur stones, and the sulfur miners' activity at the bottom of Ijen Crater.
