Philippi, St. Lydia and Kavala Old Town
Connect with your licensed tourist guide either at the archaeological site of Philippi or in Kavala city centre to begin the itinerary. Begin by exploring the city of Philippi, where you will spend approximately 2 hours, with a coffee break in between. Visit the modern Baptistery of St. Lydia, then drive back to Kavala, about 35 minutes away. Walk around the old city to see the historic Imaret building, the old house of Mohamed Ali, former governor of Egypt, the Byzantine church of Panagia, and the Aqueduct. Next, visit the Byzantine church and former mosque of St. Nickolas. Afterwards, head to the local shopping centre and the regional market to browse for souvenirs. Later, taste local flavours at a favourite seafood restaurant and enjoy a little of the famous Greek drink, Ouzo.
