Rabat is the fourth-largest city in Morocco and one of the country's four imperial cities. It lies on the Atlantic Ocean at the Bou Regreg River. The Moroccan capital was also awarded second place in CNN's "Top Travel Destinations of 2013." Explore Dar al-Makhzen, the King's Castle, an experience only permitted in Rabat. Drive to your hotel for an overnight stay.

  3. 3
    Day 03

    Journey from Rabat to Fez

Today, after breakfast, continue to your next destination, Fez, one of the most important stops on the tour. It is the oldest of the imperial cities and is well known as the economic capital for the expertise of its artisans and merchants. Fez is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is believed to be one of the world's largest car-free urban areas. Once you arrive, you will be dropped off at your accommodation, where you will spend the night and have dinner.

    Guided Tour of Fez

Meet your tour guide at the hotel or riad around 9:30 pm. Marvel at the magnificent gates of the Royal Palace in Morocco. Stroll through the Jewish Quarter (Mellah), near Fes Jdid. Drive to the southern fortress and enjoy panoramic views of Old Fez. Discover the pottery quarter during a short drive around the ramparts. Go to one of the entrances of Old Fez (the Medina), from where you can begin touring the medina. Visit Moulay Idriss Mausoleum and the UNESCO-listed old medina of Fez. Continue to Nejjarine Fountain, a traditional public fountain. Head on to discover Bou Inania Madrasa, as well as the Mosque and University of al-Qarawiyyin. See the Chouara Tannery, the largest and one of the oldest tanneries in the city. Continue through the alleyways, home to many merchants and artisans displaying their products. Drive back to your hotel or riad.

The charm of Meknes lies in its setting, a beautiful area with trees at the foot of the mountains of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, and it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Get the chance to experience a typical Roman legacy left behind by the ancient Roman civilization, located on the banks of the Khoumane River on the outskirts of Meknes.
