1Day 01
Imlil Valley, Berber Villages and Camel Ride
Your driver will meet you at your accommodation, or your preferred pick-up point, at 9:00 am to begin the transfer to Imlil. On the way, pass through the town of Tahnaout, where you can stop at an Argan Oil Co-operative and learn how the women of the co-operative turn the argan nut into many of the different argan oil-based products Morocco is famous for. Continue through Asni, where, on Saturdays, a traditional Berber souk and market can be visited. Once you arrive in Imlil, stop for a welcome glass of mint tea and meet your guide before commencing your tour of the local area. Your guide will help you decide on the length of your tour, and you can choose between 1 and 3 hours. Make your way to the largest and highest village in the Imlil Valley. Your journey will take you past waterfalls and the hamlets of Ait Mizan, Targa, and Imoula. Stop in Tamatert and take in the views of ancient irrigated terraced fields of barley, corn, and vegetables, surrounded by cherry and walnut trees. Your guide will point out places of interest and talk to you about Berber culture and heritage along the way. Travel down through Ait Souka and afterwards enjoy a traditional Moroccan meal in a Berber family guest house. Once you are rested, begin your return trip down the other side of the valley to Taourirt to meet your vehicle. Your return transfer will take you via the Moulay Brahim Gorges, where you will arrive at the main trailhead, with streams and paths branching out in all directions. Have the opportunity to experience a camel ride. Continue your journey back to Marrakech, arriving at approximately 6:00 pm.
