Discover the Fascinating Highlights of Catania

We will begin our exploration of Catania from a square that connects two major roads of the city. Next, we will admire a 15th-century church built in a unique Baroque style. Then, we will head to the next square, which has an old university building. In this square, we will identify four lamps with statues carved on them, depicting four legends. Continuing on to the next square, we will get to know why the Elephant is the town's symbol. On reaching the main square, check out the Town Hall, the Cathedral, and an Elephant fountain. The Cathedral is dedicated to St. Agatha and houses the remains of two Roman roads. Nearby is a fountain that flows to the underground river that has run through the city for ages. Next, we will walk through Crociferi Street and the fish market to see some unusual local fish. Later, take a glimpse of the ruins of an ancient thermal bath. After exploring Ursino Castle, an imposing building made of lava stone, we will walk up to the Monastery, where we will hear about local dishes and fruits. The Monastery is a huge building that now serves as the University of Literature and also houses the remains of two Roman roads.
