El Alamein Battlefields, Museum, and War Cemetery
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Cairo, and then you will travel to El Alamein. Proceed to the World War II remains and cemeteries. Your first stop will be at the Military Museum. The museum aims to document the Battle of El Alamein by displaying a group of weapons, armour, and models that symbolize the battles of El Alamein and the contributing forces, along with battle maps and belongings of battle commanders. Continue to visit the World War II cemeteries. El Alamein War Cemetery contains the graves of men who died at all stages of the Western Desert campaigns, brought in from a wide area, especially those who died in the Battle of El Alamein at the end of October 1942 and in the period immediately before that. The cemetery now contains 7,240 Commonwealth burials of the Second World War, of which 815 are unidentified. There are also 102 war graves of other nationalities. These citadel-like cemeteries are the final resting place for Commonwealth, Greek, Italian, and German soldiers. Return to Cairo.
