Day 01

Rocutuyocq Lagoon and Frozen Lagoon Hike

Get picked up from your hotel near the main square of Huaraz at 8:30 a.m. Travel north, passing through the district of Marcara, and enter Huascarán National Park. Begin the hike through the Paqcharuri ravine until you reach Rocutuyocq Lagoon at 4,550 m.a.s.l. Continue hiking to reach the glacier tongue or frozen lagoon. Capture incredible views of Paccharaju, Bayoraju, Akillpo, and other peaks. See the Paqchruri waterfall and the cave paintings. Stop in the village of Marcara for lunch on your own (average cost: 30 soles). Return to the city of Huaraz, arriving at approximately 5:30 p.m.
