Day 01

Drive to El Alamein and Continue to Siwa

Meet your guide and drive to El Alamein (driving distance: 259 km). The journey takes about 3 hours, with a stop for a coffee break on the way. We recommend bringing a packed lunch box with you. Visit the El Alamein Museum, which offers valuable information about the Battle of El Alamein. Located about 1 mile west of the British memorial on the north side of the road, the museum is of particular interest to anyone interested in war memorabilia, the tombs of the Italians and Germans, and the Commonwealth war graves. Continue driving to Siwa via Marsa Matrouh from El Alamein. Overnight in a Siwa hotel.(Meals: lunch, dinner)

Day 02

Discover Siwa Oasis and Camp in the Desert

Have breakfast and head out at 7:00 a.m. to visit Alexander the Great Temple, also known as the Temple of the Oracle. It is believed that Alexander the Great wished to consult the Siwan oracle to seek confirmation that he was the son of Zeus. Drive to the Salt Lake at 08:30 a.m. and enjoy the amazing experience of swimming, as the saltwater keeps you floating. Proceed to Cleopatra's Bath, also known as the Spring of the Sun, at 11:00 a.m. Legend says that Cleopatra swam here. Visit the Temple of Umm Ubaydah, or Amun Temple, just 200 m from the Temple of the Oracle. The temple was erected by Pharaoh Nectanebo of the 30th Dynasty. Lastly, visit Gebel Al Mawta, then stop for lunch at Abdo restaurant around 12:00 p.m. Head to the Great Sand Sea by 4x4 jeep and see the hot and cold springs at Bir Waheed. Enjoy traditional Bedouin tea at sunset and a BBQ dinner at night. Stay overnight in the desert camp. You can also sleep in nice ecolodges in Siwa instead of the camp. Day 03

Visit Shali Fort and Return to Cairo

Have breakfast at the camp at 07:00 a.m., then drive back to Siwa Oasis. Visit Shali Fort and spend some free time shopping. Drive to the Mountain of the Dead, a conical mountain a little over a kilometre north of Shali. Tombs from the Twenty-sixth Dynasty, Ptolemaic, and Roman periods are cut into the side of the mountain. There are four tombs worth seeing at Gebel Al Mawta. Head back to Cairo, passing by Marsa Matrouh. (Meal: breakfast)
